Our work in Sweden

Save the Children Sweden is a membership organization with more than 87 000 members, organized in about 250 local branches all over Sweden. Many of them work actively for children’s rights on a local level, supported by our eleven regional offices. Some help children with their homework and organize activities for children seeking asylum, others are raising money or lobbying for children’s rights towards the municipalities. More information about the local work is available at Save the Children Sweden's membership portal (in Swedish).

On a national level, Save the Children Sweden’s head office is advocating for children’s rights, in collaboration with the local branches. Although Sweden is a relatively good place to grow up in, there are many children who experience violence and injustices. Children with separated parents don’t get the support they need and children living without papers in Sweden don’t have access to school. And many young people witness or are exposed to violence at home and in the streets.

Centres for children and young people in crisis
Every year, hundreds of children get support through therapy at our Centres for children and young people in crisis. This work gives us a lot of valuable knowledge that we can share with others through publications and seminars to improve the situation for children.
